Biography

Sunil Prem Vyas, a well-known theatre personality, founded DTCA in 1997 to contribute positively to the world of art. He has been one of the youngest theatre directors in Mumbai. After graduating from University of Mumbai, he pursued Diploma in Acting from Roshan Taneja’s School of Acting. Sunil has worked with most of the prominent theatre groups in Mumbai such as IPTA, Ank, NatyaShaala and NatyaBhoomi.

Sunil was born in Haryana and grew up in Mumbai. He completed his graduation in Physics from Mumbai University. In order to quench the thirst of his inner artist and provide platform for new talents, he thought of exploring new concepts and thus came up with Darpan Theatre Arts (DTA), which eventually changed into Darpan Theatre and Cine Arts. Sunil has so far acted in 27 plays and. directed 18 plays, 4 feature movies and produced 3 movies.

Rudra Shiva - Upcoming project

‘RUDRA-SHIVA’, a pre-Vedic epic fiction is a live action, adventure, fantasy genre feature film based on lord Shiva. ‘Shiva’ means auspicious and ‘Rudra’ means ‘Storm’. Rudra is Shiva’s energy that can demolish evil to ashes.

TAKE IT EASY

His first main stream Bollywood venture Take it easy (2015), which is written, edited & directed by him, is a reflection of his amazing potential as a film maker. The film focuses on the parental and societal pressure on today's children in metropolitan cities.

The Artist within

The Artist Within written and directed by Sunil himself has a very novel subject with an unusual concept where 2 actors portray 22 characters in a one night story. 17 of these characters have been played by Sunil himself.

Gandhi Ki Zameen Par

A family, a TV reporter & his cameraman caught in communal riots & their attempt to disseminate the message of humanity being supreme religion.

Abhishapt

Based on a true story, 'Abhishapt' is shot entirely on location in Agra and Fathepur Sikri. The film is based in rural India.A newly wed, stone cutter "Manya",falls prey to the whims of the landlord who kidnaps her and consequently rapes her. Seeking justice she approaches the local police officer who happens to be good friends with the landlord and he in turn exploits her further.

Galti Se Mistakke Ho Gayi

This movie is a genuine effort to create feel good cinema of the 70s, when legends like Hrishikesh Mukherjee & Basu Chaterjee made films for family experience

telEvision and theatre

Sunil Prem Vyas founded DTCA with a mission to encourage new talents in Hindi theatre, which eventually built into a production house for quality cinema. Darpan Theatre group has staged more than 17 plays written by playwrights such as George Bernard Shaw, Vijay Tendulkar, Ratnakar Matkari, Moliere and Mahesh Elkunchwar.

Sunil has acted in 27 plays wherein he wrote 11, translated 3 and directed 18.

TV series Raaz was Sunil’s first television break along with eminent actor Nirmal Pandey. Tum Kya JanoPreet, and Mission Fateh, Crime Patrol were other T V shows where Sunil played the lead characters. Sunil has acted in 8 Tele-Serials and scripted 5.
